Customs and duties
Draft for Marii to check. The highlighted parts are our suggestions and need her confirmation before launch.
Your order is sent from Malaysia, so your country may charge import duties and taxes when it arrives.
What you may have to pay
Most countries charge import duty, sales tax (such as VAT or GST) or both on jewellery from abroad. These are worked out on the full value of your parcel at your country’s own rates.
They are not included in our prices or in the shipping cost at checkout. They are set by your country’s customs, not by us.
How you pay them
FedEx collects any duties and taxes for your country’s customs. FedEx will contact you with the amount and how to pay, usually before delivery. Paying quickly avoids delays and storage charges.
Gold and customs
- Every parcel carries an invoice with the true value of the pieces inside. We cannot mark an order as a gift or declare a lower value.
- Some countries have their own rules on bringing in gold jewellery. If you are unsure, please check with your customs office before you order.
- Your customs office may ask you for ID or more details before it releases the parcel.
If duties are not paid
If duties are not paid, FedEx returns the parcel to us. Once it is back with us, we refund the price of your piece, less the shipping both ways and any charges we pay to get it back.
Finding your rate
Your country’s customs website lists its rates and any value below which nothing is charged. FedEx also has a tool on its website to estimate duties and taxes.
